My right wrist is dead tired....
OK I know what you're thinking
No it's not because I'm doing too much of *that*
After my rides my right wrist, the one which I use to do most of the shifting, is incredibly weak. Turning the key to enter my house is difficult. Even shifting towards the end of my rides is difficult. This has been a nagging problem and I'm trying to figure out how to stop the weakness.
I was in a Chinese restaurant after riding 46 miles on Saturday night. I could not use the chopsticks. My hands were too weak. Typically my hands will become increasingly weak as I do multiple days of riding with no rest. I gather this is not uncommon, but the absolute weakness of my right wrist is just plain ludicrous sometimes. It's hurting me to type right now. In the morning after sleeping the wrists are usually in much better strength. I'm 32 and in pretty good shape otherwise. I promise I'm not a weakling....
I lift weights in the MWF am. This causes my hands to be somewhat constricted.
I have Sora componentry. Maybe it's just requires too much effort to push the rear derailer? Is there any way to change that?
Is there some special trick I should use to shift? I typically ride 90% of my ride in teh drops and thats' where I'm shifting.
Am I the only one who suffers this ridiculous malady?
(I've ridden 1100 miles since April so I don't think it's because I'm a novice or out of shape)

Is it just weak, or is it numb as well?
Maybe you pinched a nerve, or this is the beginning of carpel tunnel.

not numb, just weak.
I do lots of typing at work. I'm not familiar with carpal tunnel though. Is it a common ailment of cyclists?

I had a similar numbness/stiffness problem in my left wrist after starting skiing last year.. Being my first time skiing, i fell a bunch if times... Probably lead to a pinched nerve or something.. See if mobility exercises help.. also try doing thumb to finger stretches.. These help with nerve pinches etc...

No affiliation, just a quick Google search. Read up on this, it only gets worse, it's more related to typing that riding and you're doing both (aren't we all). Get this taken care of, now.
