Sigma BC1600 wireless + cadence?
I know the BC1600's speed sensor is meant to be mounted on the fork/front wheel, but is it possible to get the RDS wireless upgrade kit and mount that on the chainstay/rear wheel along with the wired cadence kit? I'm looking for a computer that can be mounted on the stem of my bike.

I doubt it. You're going to have two problems. You'll have to fabricate the pickup mount because rear wheels are farther from the frame than front wheels. After you figure out the pickup mounting, you'll find out that it doesn't have enough range to send a signal to the stem mounted head.

Is there enough wiring on the standard BC1600 to bring the main sensor to the rear wheel then? I wouldn't mind running wires; I just want rear mounted sensors so that I can keep track of mileage during the winter when my bike is mounter on a trainer without the front wheel.

Sigma has a rear-mount wired kit available that I put on for use on the trainer. I _did_ have to make an ugly hack to get the pick-up close enough to the wheel magnet to actually get it to register (because of the distance between chainstay and spokes) but that might have been more me not seeing the right way to mount it than anything...

Not shipped, but still a great price for a full function cpu.

I don't know how or even why I would justify buying a new computer. I've got a perfectly good Astrale 8 that does cadence and has everything mounted in the rear like I want. Sure, the display isn't as cool as the dot-matrix of the BC1600, and I can't mount it on my stem, but I'm using regular bars right now and it works fine.

The two in question were Canadians, so Nashbar really isn't any cheaper

Yeah, it kind of blows not having any big etailers for anything up here. I mean you guys have places like Newegg and Nashbar etc, but we got nothing. What I need is some American co-conspirator to buy me stuff down there and then ship it up here Yes, I realize that there are commercial services for that, but I'd much rather deal with individuals.
Can anybody else think of a reason to switch from the Astrale to the BC1600? Seems pretty worthless to blow another $35 on a computer and $10 on a rear-wiring kit and then have this Astrale sitting around which does the same thing. If I had known at the time I bought my computer that the BC1600 had the rear wiring kit, I might have gone for it then, but it seems pretty late in the game for it now.
Anybody interested in a lightly used Astrale 8?

Thanks for the confirmation, but I've already ruled out buying a new computer. The Astrale does its job perfectly well.
