Mavic Cosmos clicking noise
Problem: Mavic Cosmos front wheel. Clicking noise when riding. Diminishes as I slow to a stop and when front brake is applied. Regular and persistent at riding speed. Seems to occur in the same place on the wheel. Wheel has 1000 miles on it. Does anyone have a diagnosis and remedy for this problem?

is your computer magnet hitting the sensor?
sometimes its the valve stem hitting the side of the rim hole (yeah, that sounds dirty!)
sometimes its a spoke thats going to break soon.

Maybe its not sitting in the drop outs correctly. Do you know where exactly the sound is coming from?

I'm wondering about the stem, however I don't hear the sound on the rear wheel and I"m using the same tubes on both. I ride with Performance ultralight tubes with a long stem.
It isn't the cyclometer, I"ve checked that. Also, I'm sure it is properly seated in the dropouts.

I have the exact same problem, but on the rear wheel. I made a post about it, but didn't get any help on it. It is provoked by pedaling, but when I stop the noise continues. All of my spokes are tensioned. It is really confusing me. Could it be possible that it's the seam on the rim?

I had a similar problem on a rear wheel using a Mavic Open Pro rim. The click is coming from the interface between one of the spoke nipples and the rim. Put a drop of lubrication on each nipple (stop that snickering and get your mind out of the gutter) and the problem should go away.

I tried the lube on the spoke nipples and that seemed to help a bit. In searching the internet I read that Mavic has a small piece of metal used in welding the rim that sometimes come loose. Still searching for answers!

Sounds crazy- but the same problem was solved for me recently by tightening the screw for my water bottle cage.
May it be so easy for you

Hah! I also have a "squeeking" problem with my rear Cosmos, BUT mine only occurs when I'm sitting on the bike. If I get off the bike and spin the wheel, nothing. Pedalling doesn't affect it. I'm thinking it's a spoke issue since it only happens under load (the load of my weight).
Gonna check it out tomorrow.
Gonna check it out tomorrow.

I have open pros that will do this from time to time! As mentioned before just put a litle tri-flow lube where the spoke nipple and rim eyelet meet. I tend to lube around every 500 miles just so that ticking noise doesn't annoy the hell out of me while riding. All in-all Mavic wheels are very durable. I traded my Rolfs out 2 years ago and couldnt have been happier. I can't wait until my Equipes get here!

I had a similar problem yesterday when I installed my HAC4 computer/HRM. Turned out it was something in the HAC4's wireless transmitter that would click each time the magnet passed it by. Funny because I couldn't get the speed to register either when this was happening. Shifted the transmitter away from the magnet a little and sure enough no more cliking and the speed registered.
