Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

ok.. after about a month or so of building and buying parts from supergo, performance, wheelaway, and GVH bikes.... it's finally done! a bike i can truly call my own!

for those that didn't know.. this is my first build attempt and i love the results! i started out with a budget of $1000, and end result is $1,093.40 (of course, not counting the $89 toolkit and stand from performance and tuneup service from STbikes $100.85 ~ ouch ~

anyway.. time for pics and specs.. on paper, the weight is sub 18lbs... but until i put the carbon waterbottle cage on, cyclocomputer (cateye astrale 8), mini bag with accessories.. it'll be more than 18lbs.. hehe. ok ok.. call me a weightweenie..

EDIT: New Pics Updated with more BLING! New Fizik Arione (w/ electric blue strip), EggBeaters Blue, new shorter Weyless 90mm stem.

Nice build. I've been keeping my eye on those Fetish frames - they appear to be a good value. I love the color combos with the white frame and the blue rims. Component mix looks solid. For a $1000, it looks like a heckuva deal and setup.

Please report back how she rides....

Very nice, clean-looking ride. Those blue rims really add the right amount of "pop" to your bike.

thanks all.. i still have some more tweaking to do.. so hopefully i can quickly find the setting that's the most comfortable for me. there's a hill (or a rise for zappcatt ) by my house... hopefully we'll be able to ride it soon.

Oh yeah! Yellow is worth at least 6-7mph, and even more on hills.. Where do you typically ride in the area?

Hey veneer,

Great job! Now that all the work is done, you can finally enjoy the fruits of your labors. I'm sure you're going to love it and I think you'll be amazed by the wheelset. Looking forward to the report of your first real ride.

Sweet bike man, but I have a prediction. Your next bar tape will not be white. As sweet looking as it is, you will gunk it up with chain greese way too quickly. (just my prediction here) Blue would Kick butt for the next go around.

Zapp... white civic.. not accord.. hehe

sorebutt.. i live near by stbikes... behind the home depot. i haven't really found a place to ride except from my house to campbell performance... capitol expwy -> hillsdale -> camden -> rt on bascom...

jitter... i know.. white will look nice now.. but i'm sure it'll get dirty quick like my other bike's bartape. blue will look nice if i can find one that matches the same color as my wheels. gonna look into the EB pedals for performance exclusive.. since it's blue to match my wheels.. hehe

You have to ride it! What did you do inbetween 10:30 and 1:30 huh? Do you know how far away the weekend is???? Just do it....and let us know how it rides!

Yes, veneer - clfjmpr44 makes a very good point! Where are your priorities man? A bench warrant for missing jury duty is a small thing versus telling us all how the new bike rides!
