Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Lemond Tourmalet vs Cannondale R700

Alright so im still having a hard time deciding on which bike and want to know a couple things. Assuming both bikes fit me properly is their any major advantage that the Cannondale has over the Lemond. Anyone know the Weight of both in a 53 or 54. I've ridden the Cannondale and loved the way it felt and rode however it is 100 dollars more than the lemond which i spretty significant considering tax and new shorts and a jersey. Im waiting on my LBS's Lemond Tourmalet to arrive so I havent ridden it yet.

Those two bikes were the exact same two I was deciding over about 2 months ago. I eventually went with the cdale (I didn't get to test ride the tourmalet tho). the R700 has the CAAD7 frame which is said to be a real good frame, I like it. I don't think you can go wrong with either tho.

My 05 Tourmalet weighs just over 20 pounds...20.5 to be exact. Mine is 53.
I love my bike so I vote for Tourmalet but I have never touched the Cannondale so you should ride both.

If your going with aluminum, go with the company who is known for there aluminum builds. Which is Cannondale. The CAAD 7 frame was there premier frame a few years ago. Cannondale steps down there frames when an new design comes out, instead of building lower grade ones.

I have the R700 and love it, but also have never ridden the Tourmalet. Both have about the same component spec so no real difference there. I don't really like the sloping top tube bikes, so the Cannondale is more attractive to me, but as has been said over and over, buy the one YOU think rides the best.

Go with the Cdale, you wont regret it. Try to bargain a bit see if the LBS will throw in something if you buy the bike ie a jersey or shorts, if you are paying list.

I have never ridden the Cannondale, but I do have a 2004 Tourmalet...which I am extremely happy with. I must say that I do like the looks of Cdale bikes, but the shop that sells them here leaves a bit to be desired as far as service. They are both very nice bikes for the price.....Take your test rides and buy which ever one feels best to you. I wouldn't let $100.00 difference sway me too much.

But I HAVE said this before....we could use a few more Tourmalet riders in here.

Nothing to say other than to say that ignore the $100 difference. That's a small enough difference that you should consider them to be priced the same, decision-wise. Go with whatever suits you best!
