oddsandendos wheels owners?
Post your opinions here... General consensus seems to be that his wheels are amazing for the price and I can't disagree in the least. I have the Niobium30 build and absolutely love them. They spin up quickly and they seem to roll forever. I took the stickers off mine to make them a bit more stealth looking. They weigh 1553g (657 front/896 rear), 20 hole front, 24 hole rear.. Wheelsmith XE14 bladed spokes. $389 shipped... no way in heck I could be happier (ok, maybe if they were 200g lighter for the same price, but let's be realistic). I've got 315 miles on them so far... ridden on some pretty rough roads and they're not even remotely out of true yet. So yeah, anyone else that has a set of wheels built by Mike, share your experiences.

He is raising his prices on July 1. I'll bet you his sales have been great at his current low prices.
I hope he doesn't raise them too much.
It was good while it lasted, I guess.

I didn't know about him raising his prices... I didn't see it on his site anymore... but still, I can't reasonably see him jacking his prices up so far that he's no longer competitive. Right now his prices are admittedly lower than they should be. He's kinda spoiled us, ya know? I'd say he's getting a fair bit of business just from word-of-mouth referrals.

You know if I bought all the parts to make those wheels you got separately from him it would actually cost more than if he made them and I wouldn't get free shipping. Those aero spokes alone are like $100. Yeah, it's a good deal.

He's probably going on vacation or something... and it generally takes him 6-8 days to complete a wheel build after the order is placed. He's a really good guy who really knows his stuff.. I talked to him once on the phone and ordered that day after the amount of time he took to talk to me about everything and explain everything.

I'm currently waiting for my wheels. Hopefully they'll be here in the next couple of days, but from what I've heard from others Mike has been just swamped with orders.

Well I just placed my order. DT Swiss RR1.1/SpeedCific set with 32 spokes in the back for my big butt. I assume it will be a few weeks but that's fine. I can't wait.

Well the claimed weights are 650g for the front and 865g for the rear, then add ~23g for the 32 spoke option and ~10g for brass nipples on the drive side in the rear. Grand total should be roughly 1548g which is 102g lighter than the claimed weight for my Velomax Circuits. $349 shipped pending confirmation...I hope that doesn't mean I am going to fall into the new prices.

I just bought the niobium wheeset (1513 grams). They look great. I am waiting on my frame to start my build, so I have not rode them yet. Mike is very knowledgable and enjoys his work. I would definately buy from him again.

Do not worry, I he is a great deal even at a few more dollars. After working with Mike I believe any price increase will be moderate. He does not seem like a guy who would double his prices. More likely he is raising his price in reponse to additional cost he incurrs. I believe he just moved into a new shop, so maybe his overhead went up.

Sweet, I just called oddsandendos and my web order placed early this morning is the last one they are doing before their shutdown. My wheels are scheduled for a July 7th build so I should have them some time during the second week of the Tour. I can't wait.

Seems as though it's a normal thing for him to do brass nipples on the drive side in the rear... He did mine that way as well. I mean, he didn't do it without my permission, he just said "this is how I prefer to do it" and I just figured "ok, you do this all day long so I'm sure you know what you're doing". So it seems that we have a couple Niobium 30 owners, a couple of DT Swiss R1.1 owners and a couple aerohead owners.

Brass niples on the drive side because they have more tension on them. Heck, the non-drive has much less tension so why even bother with alloy nipples. Elmer's glue might work (Haha)

Bought the Velocity Aeroheads with Speedcific (front) and American Classic (rear) hubs last year from Mike. Strong and light wheels for a great price.

There's really nothing like a good set of hand-built wheels Especially if they're hand built by someone who takes as much pride in his work as Mike does.

My wheels will be here tomorrow!! I'll post pics when I get them (I ordered the Speedcific/DT RR1.1 wheelset--according to Mike they will come in under 1600g even though they're built for my 230lb a$$). I've got my Vitt. Open Corsa Evo CX's ready and waiting, and a new cassette on the way as well!! Can't wait to put some miles on these!! Like cryogenic pointed out, you can't beat the prices, weights, or the customer service! Mike and Alex do a great job, and have been very helpful in my wheel decisions and with everything pertaining to my order.

My wheels arrived Monday of this week.
Nimble spider front on Speedcific hub
Aerohead OC rear on DTswiss 240 hub
Dt revo spokes
veloplugs
~1400 grams
$425
How can you beat that?
They are very light and I notive a huge difference over my Open Pro's on 105 hubs.
happy

I had to wait for a month (a long delay getting black hubs from the manufacturer), but I received my wheelset yesterday:
White Industries LTA hubs
Wheelsmith AE15 spokes
DT Swiss RR1.1 Rims
Claimed weight (w/o tape) Front: 654 grams Rear: 832 grams
Price (including shipping): $510.
They feel solid. Took them out for for the first ride this evening. My initial impression is that they provide a smoother ride over the bumps than the Bontrager Race Lites. I'll have to do a little more climbing, but it also seemed a little easier to maintain my speed on the hills--they're 250(?) grams lighter.

at the rate we're going, we're going to have a Mike Garcia fan club going on here.
