Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I have an Alien, it Rocks, but is not aero.

Pedal Force has an aero post that is light, bare carbon, and inexpensive.

Well, if it is inline with the quality of their frames, then I am sure they are as good as any other cf post coming out of Taiwan, since that's where they're all made anyway.

I saw last year's Aireon seatpost from Supergo at my local Performance the other day for something like $39.

Apparently Aero seat posts don't really provide an aero advantage with a rider aboard, but they do look cool.

It probably has a little better effect if the rider is in a skinsuit and in a very specific position. But I agree... most of the time, it just looks cool. Admittedly, I think it depends on the bike too. I prefer a non-aero looking seatpost for my particular bike or maybe I just haven't found one to match the curvature of my seat-tube appropriately. I must maintain my OCP image you know.

To help out a novice here -- What's the difference between a regular seatpost and an aero seatpost?

Is it just the look/design of them to be slightly more aerodynamic?
