Shaving - how high do you go?

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Shaving - how high do you go?

I've shaved before, mostly because I did triathlons and no one wanted to see Chewbacca in a Speedo. I wouldn't say that I'm quite Chewbacca, but I am probably the hairiest athlete that I've ever seen. And yes, I used to be good enough to wear just the Speedo.

Anyway, since the Speedo doesn't seem to be used by anyone anymore, and I'm mostly bicycling anyway, how high do you guys (who actually have hair all the way up) go? Do you figure if it's covered by the lycra, it doesn't need to go? Or do you shave just above where your shortest pair of normal shorts would cover? Or do you do the entire leg leaving just a hair shadow in the shape of brief-style underwear? There are a lot of things to consider, especially if you are like me and trim the other stuff that women (well my wife anyway) see.

Additionally, I have always used just hair clippers (like the barber uses on the back of your neck) and they seem to get pretty close. Is there much benefit to using a razor instead of the clippers? I used a razor - once. I got ingrown hairs all up my thighs and it took weeks for it to go away. I don't think I'd use a real razor ever again, unless you can tell me a foolproof way to avoid that.

I use a razor about once a week. I usually don't do it the day of a ride or I'll get ingrown hairs.

Most of the week I'll use my electric razor which works pretty well.

As far as how far up. I go all the way. between the legs and such. Including the non-mentionalbles. I like it that way.

Also get my stomach with the electric and do my chest with the clippers.

I don't care if cycling is the reason or not. I just prefer doing this, I like the way it looks/feels.

They have this funky new device that pulls the hair with spinning pads. I think it's made by conair or something. I tried shaving once, but gave it up. The hair grows back too fast, and it takes too long to shave. So, I could care a less.
If I could get rid of it easily in just a few minutes, and keep it gone for at least a month, then I may consider trying it again.

Then again, the hair on my legs has never really bothered me to begin with..

All the way up, not including the area between the legs...

It takes nearly 4-5 days to get any major visually regrowth for me, but the stubble starts about day 2 - 3, so I shave about 2 times per week...

When I shaved, I shaved all the way up, but I left 'sideburns' on the insides of my thighs to reduce chafing.

I knew of a guy who was rather hairy and would shave the areas that were exposed while wearing cycling shorts. He looked like a **** when he wore normal shorts.

impeachment proceedings are underway--he either does 5-10 in a tanning salon, or this goes before the full board of trustees

Cipo was perhaps the Pelotons biggest poseur. I think all he EVER shaved was his legs for riding. He didn't shave the chest or anything else though. So, I don't bother. I don't have much body hair anyway. I shouldn't have bohtered. To me, shaving threads pointless anyway.

I knew a chick who left 'racing stripes' up the side of her legs. It was pretty crazy. Almost as crazy as the 'thigh sideburns'...

peace,

I agree there are too many "shaving" threads. I tried to change it up a little for this post though.

On another note, Ziggurat should be required to reply to every post. That way anyone on bike forums would get to see his signature video. I watch that thing for hours to see if the black kitten will ever learn to stop taunting the bigger cat!

I shave all the way to the top of my hips, including the boys (wifes request). I also shave my head, also wifes request. I've been shaving my legs for over 15 years now and I still hate it, but when I've crashed it heals up sooooo much faster that I can deal with it.

I shave up to mid-thigh, I use clippers for the rest, IE the twins and surrounding territory etc.

2x a week for legs, every other day my head, clippers every week or so.
