OK, a carbon anything sounds nice... too bad i lost one of my jobs and im poor as hizell.... for the time being, what kind of seat could i get that would make my ride nicer? i was thinking about 2 from nashbar, the red and black one that came with my red and black bike i love, but it is not so comfortable... although i have not done much riding on it, so should i maybe give it more time? or just try something new??
here are the seats im looking at.
https://www.nashbar.com/profile.cfm?...reid=&pagename=
https://www.nashbar.com/profile_more...sku=9072&brand=
any other suggestions ill take! I dont have too much money, so it cant be too spectatularly expensive.
EDIT:: use these URL's

First off, make sure your fit is right. Incorrect fit will feel bad.
If your fit is right and it just does not work, then look around.
Out of those two I would go for the Selle just because I know they will last.
I found firm saddles work best for me, but everyone's butts are different, so let your backside do the choosing.

I don't know how much weight you care to haul around, but you might want to check out the fizik rondine. I picked one up for (significantly) less than $60 and it has saved my posterior.

Many larger bike stores have the "throw away" saddle box. Folks buy a new bike and don't want the factory saddle. They buy a different saddle and the factory saddle goes into the "throw away" box.
I watched the TdF today at a neighborhood brew pub and then browsed around the local Trek dealer. The "throw away" saddle box had a nice Bontrager saddle for ten bucks. My buddy said "What sort of POS saddle sells for only ten bucks?" I decided to buy it anyway...it was similar in size and shape to some of my favorite saddles.
As we looked around the store, we came across a 2005 Trek Madone for around $3,000. And, there it was: my ten buck saddle was the factory saddle for the Trek Madone.
So, those boxes of "orphan" saddles may be worth a couple minutes of your time.

Just got mine today. It looks/feels like a higher-end Brooks, and for $4, why not give it a try? So, it's a little heavy, but unless you plan on serious racing, I think an extra 100 grams won't kill ya...

I like the less-padded Selle Italia seats -and I have a very sensitive toosh that gets easily cut and chaffed in all the wrong places.

Little-known fact: used is a great way to go in purchasing a saddle. Why? Lot of folks buy a saddle and end up not liking it, or just experiment, trial and error. Getting a slightly used saddle is great too -- someone else's bum broke it in. Because I love my fizik Alliante, I'd buy one again for my next bike, but would definitely check ebay before forking over ~200 clams for a new one.

I have a Performance Forté Pro SLX saddle, which I got from (surprise!) Performance, as it is their top-shelf house brand saddle. At 197 grams, it's lighter than my Arione, which cost three times as much, and the jury's still out on which is more comfortable (The Arione is brand new). I have put somewhere around 2000 miles on the Forté saddle, and it's treated me pretty well. Plus, they seem to go on sale quite often, so they can be gotten really cheap. I got mine when it was on sale for $35, plus a 20% coupon made it a pretty sweet deal. I'd throw in a link or picture, but for some reason, my ISP doesn't allow me access to Performance, Nashbar or Supergo's websites.

https://www.serfas.com/ Makes some inexpensive comfy saddles.
I picked up Mens Rx saddle at my LBS for $29.99 the other day. I feel like I could ride 500 miles on this thing. I know it's kind of dorky to have a gel saddle on your ride, but it's just until my rear gets use to riding long distance riding.

Some will, some won't. You'd have to ask your shop to be sure.

wow... i must say, i really like the look of the Performance Forté Pro SLX. Apparently a lot of you like it too, so it must be some kind of comfort... and for only 34! dang! that is nice!... i may just see what i can do about aquiring that one! I also noticed the Performance Forté T1 Tri Saddle, what does everybody think about this one?? it is only 39, but sounds just as nice. My bike is red and black so i like the black and red color scheme!

I am in The twin city area, bloomington normal. I have a seat right now that has a gel pad area for the soft areas, but i think i would like something that has a cut out. The gel just did not quite cut it. I dont know, maybe my "taint" needs to be toughened up, if that is even possible.

Follow up (as requested by 53-11) on the Selle Royal Prestige.
Well, my seatpost has been busted, but the mile I've put on it (I know, I know) has proven that it is a very comfortable saddle. It's hard to tell for distance of course, but it actually has the feel of a slightly broken in Brooks narrower saddle, like a Pro. It's firm, and seems to be very well constructed. It really forms to the sit bones (for me, at least), creating a pain free ride (my Titec was good, but I got to a point where the sides of it would strain my thigh. The Prestige has eliminated that problem).
Like I said, I haven't ridden the Prestige much, but for $4, I'd reccomend it to anyone looking for a new saddle.
