Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Back in the Saddle.

So after a several month hiatus, I finally hopped back on my road bike.

During my time off my road bike, I was seduced by the Dark Side and was fully enjoying the evils of a 'bent. Not just any 'bent but a 'bent trike!

So as of Monday I climbed back on my roadie, and started using it to commute again. Man, I forgot how fast one can go on these things. During my time on the trike too which is twice as heavy (sans gear) as my road bike, I definately got stronger.

man that is the dark side. I will ride a trike when my main interest is picking up cans along side the road.

Most of what I typed seems to have gone missing...

I must say most of the guys I saw on road bikes were really cool and made a lot of nice comments about the trike. I will also say that at a 27-28 kph average I was doing anything but picking up cans on the side of the road.

Layin' back at 17 mph on a trike, I'd be throwing the (beer) cans off as I emptied them.
