Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

A lot less then he'll make on endorsements after he wins the 2006 tour by 6 minutes.

Me too. Rumors are abound though that Vinokurov (probably spelled wrong) is going to Discovery. We'll have to wait and see

Good for him...it's well deserved! Given a trouble free year in '06 he's the odds on favorite for the Tour. He's really improved his TT ability and he is the only guy in the peleton who can really climb as well.

Why?

CSC is a good team and Riis is a good director, so staying makes sense, but why be opposed to a move other than strictly sentimental attachments?

wouldn't he be more likely to make more money and have a true full team with support if he did go to Discovery. He will be very hard to beat next year.

Was watching the tour with some friends, and on the climbs, Basso looked so comfortable climbing, and always with a smile on his face ... compare that to the agony on Ullrich's face on the same climb
