Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

CB Eggbeater road cleats...

i'm looking to get this set from Supergo, but they don't carry the road cleat. Anyone know where I can get them? Cuz I thought it just the regular cleat with the rubber flaps on the side, right?

Nashbar
Performance Bike

Your LBS or REI could probably order them in for clost to the same price too, if they don't already have them in stock.

what advantage does the road cleat provide with the rubber that the regular cleat doesn't have?

Regular Crank cleats are designed for MTB shoes. The lugs on the shoes protect the cleats from damage when you walk around. Road shoes have no such protection without the rubber bumpers on the road cleats. Crank cleats are made from relatively soft brass and damage easily.

well.. my guess is.. the regular one u won't be able to walk in the store.. cuz u'll just slip and eat it. whereas the road cleat, with the rubber wings, will give you better stability while giving u slightly bigger platform to pedal on.
