Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

New Bar Tape Pics

After much soul searching and review of advice from Hip and Kirke and others, I am proud to present pics of my new bar tape. It is Cinelli Bi Color in Red/Black and I was only able to find it at World Cycling online. It was difficult to apply because of the transition from red to black. If you did not wrap evenly from side to side, the color change occured at a different part of the bar. Had to wrap one side first and then play with the other side until it was right. Next will be a red saddle I think, as suggested by Telenick and others. How much speed should I gain by adding all this red?

Any speed gain, if any, will be hardly noticable. Noticable speed gain can easily be acquired simply by starting off with a red frame.

Nice. I did a similar mix last year on the MJ using yellow and black. The key was to splice it together under the hoods for a nice clean look.

Wow, never thought of splicing. I spent a week searching LBS and web until I found black/red! Mine changes one wrap above hoods. Splicing under hoods is great idea. Will definitely do that on next rewrap. That black/yellow combo is awesome. Thanks Rad!
