Bike shorts padding
So I just got a new pair of shorts (these) which I figure are relatively decent.
Up to this time I'd been riding in some shorts that were basically just spandex, not designed for biking. They had no padding. I've done alot of riding in these, including several 80 mile rides and never felt uncomfortable.
When I ride with the new shorts, the padding drives me crazy. It is hot, it rides up into my ***, and it's just uncomfortable in general. Is there any reason for padding other than comfort? I'm on the verge of cutting it out.

Sounds like the butt miles that you have accumulated without padding have turned you into a superman. Cycling chorts do take a little time to get used too. IMO, just hang in there and keep wearing them. They'll become so comfortable and possibly your rear's best friend.

yea I figure I should give it another week at least (I'm a week in so far) before I deface my shorts.
It'll be a shame to lose my superbutt though
