Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Velocity Uriel Wheels--any opinions?

Does anyone have any knowledge about or experience with Velocity Uriel wheelsets? The Uriel has the Fusion rims with black bladed spokes and the Velocity sealed bearing hubs.

Weight: Rear 982g Front 740g
20 Hole Front, 24 Hole Rear

For details, see https://velocityusa.com/wheels/road-uriel.php

$320 for the set at Bullteksports

Any opinions? If so, how would you compare these to, say, Velomax Tempest 2s?

I have the Spartacus Pros with 16 spokes front 20 rear. 700 miles and are as true as the first day.
The uriels are a little lighter but very similar. I believe they are great wheels.

Thanks for the input. How do your Velocity's compare with other wheelsets you've ridden?

I come from MTB so these are my first skinny wheels but I've been pretty hard with them; I lost the pavement once drinking water and blew a tyre on the rough - thought it was the end of them - I also usually ride through a 50 feet of pebbles both ways on my way to rides... and like I said before, the wheels are still within 0.5mm.
The Spartacus have the Deev V rim as opposed to the fusion 30mm against 25mm. that may give them some extra strenght.
The hubs are great. The front wheel spins forever.
I think for the money they are a great deal.

Regards,

Pablo
