LOOK 585 vs. TIME VXRS
Am ready to pull the trigger on a new ride. After endless brochures and countless hours surfing the net, have narrowed it down to either a LOOK 585 or a TIME VXRS, both of which are reputed to be amazing bikes. Would greatly appreciate any insight into these frames, ideally from someone who has owned both. Quantifiable differences are a 5-year warranty on the LOOK, but only 2 years on the TIME, though not certain about latter. Also, the TIME is about $1,500 more. How stable are these frames for descending, cornering, accelerating, sprinting, etc. ANY insights or help is greatly appreciated. Thanks, Miguel.

Could someone actually afford both? I rode with a gentleman a month ago that was on a new Chorus 10 equiped 585. I couldn't stop staring at the damn thing the whole ride while he raved on answering all our questions. I'm going to ask him if I can take it for a spin as it's on my shortlist of potential framesets as well. The added bonus is that the 57 cc (57.2 tt) that fits my bones looses the sloping top tube! For my stoggy old eyes sloping tt's aren't really my cuppa, but that's purely an aesthetic call. The 585's replaceable derailleur hanger's a necessary feature on the list which elliminates a number of well marketed CF framesets. I do wonder about the long term durability of the raceless fork crown feature (fixed features are not fixable...they wear out and die). One thing that is interesting in the cyclingnew.com review of the Time is their claim that Boonen rides a production frame. CycleSport ran a spread and noted several modifications (2 extra layers of carbon in the tt, straight chainstays, etc...) that are made specifically to stiffen the ride for him...not that any of us will ever demand as much from a frame as T.B. or course.

Hi,
I know your struggle to decide between Time VXRS and Look 585.
I'm actually in a same situation. If you decided to go with Time you can get it a lot cheaper from UK.
Check out www.toatalcycling.com or https://www.wiggle.co.uk/ and https://www.camza.biz/item--Time-VXRS...k--21FRTIVAR30.
Good Luck.

I have the 585 so I'm biased. Let me just say the the customer service at Look is first rate. I have an issue with my frame that they are going to warranty but there was never a question. Send it in we will replace it no problem.
Before the 585 I had the 481SL. Another fantasic bike. Much different ride than the 585. Smooth, comfy, but slower steering and not as fast on the decents.
The 585 is a bit rough with really bad pavement. I usually take it really easy so to not get beat. But I whack my tires up to 8bar so YMMV. It is an insane climber with stiff cranks and light wheels. It literally leaps forward when you pedal uphill standing. I ride the Large frame so it has a slight sloping top tube.
You should ride both if you can. If you can not then flip a coin. I bet the VXRS is sweet as well. It is more money but you get the seatpost which you need for the look(about $200 depending on what you get) and you get the ultra cool? time h20 cage. lol.
good luck

Can't go wrong with either frame. Or, most any high-end CF frame. Every year these things get stiffer AND lighter...when will it ever end???

I am happy I dont have to make the choice, I would probably end up tearing every bit of hair off my head...
If its good for Big Tom... Its good for me... and for sheer uniqueness, the VXRS... Although, one of my fantasies is a 581 or a 486 for that matter, in nude carbon and deep V reynolds/lightweight black wheelset(no stickering mind you)...
Best of luck...

Nice to have that sort of money
If this means anything to ya, the matt black finish on the Times don't look that spectacular "in person"

Both are great frames. I cannot comment on the Look as I have never ridden it. But I ride a Time VX Special Pro and I can tell you it is extremely stable in downhills, this thing is like going on rails, not a wobble.
Time frames are more expensive because they are produced in smaller numbers. The 585 might be a tad lighter.
I have never read a bad comment or review about the VX (now VXS and VX Edge), VXR, or VXRS frames.
Time frames are all built in France, Look 585 are now built in Tunisia (in Look owned factory by Look trained and paid employees).

Cheapest price I've found so far on VXRS.
2275 British Pounds w/Vat. Without 17.5% Vat is 1936 which is equivalent to $3443.58 USD.

Your conversion is way off.
2275 pounds equals $4045. Then you must add the 17.5 VAT and then the significant shipping/insurance charge from Europe to the states. When you are done, you end up with a number approaching the high 4's.

The way I see it is that you have two choices. Buy a sticker and help fund an advertising campaign, or go get professionally fitted and then buy a Parlee, Crumpton or Calfee.
Same money, better fit, uniquely individual....what more could you want?

This is an old thread now but somebody not sure about going Time or Look should check the geometry. Look frames tend to be longer for the same size. They usually have top tubes that are 0.5 to 1 cm longer.
