Heart Exhausted?
Can your heart get exhausted? After doing 36 miles, I ended up doing another 18 miles in 98 degrees weather. That tired me out really fast. My heart refused to go above 160 when it can normally sustain 170-180 for a couple of hours. Now I'm coughing when I breath. I feel like I'm not pulling in enough air or something. You know the sensation you get from holding your breath for a while? I have that constantly right now. This is the most exhausted I've ever been, even more than the first day of the MS150. The heat really, really kills you. Anyone know what is going on with me?

I've gotten this feeling after riding in very humid weather. To me it always felt like drowning, like water in the lungs, maybe from the humidity? It will probably pass. 98 degrees is pretty damn hot to be riding 54 miles.

At least take an aspirin right now.
I read that you can't hurt your heart overdoing a workout. I'ts like trying to kill yourself holding your breath. It can't be done.
So if you don't have a known heart condition it must be just exhaustion.

I'm only 22 and last time I got a phyiscal I have a really healthy heart. It is like how va_cyclists described. I will definitely get it checked out if this continues.
Does your heart produce lactic acid?

Oh yeah, quit all the moaning groaning about riding in f-ing heat - the best thing you can do is get back on your bike around noon tomorrow and ride like hell. Don't take any water and just blow that crap out of your lungs at full speed, then suck it back into your tummy, you'll be fit as a fiddle later in the day.
