Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Not that anybody here really gives a hoot, but I am back off vacation, and more than ready to get back to work. Also, starting tomorrow, I will be able to adorn the night shifts once again with my pathetic humor, extreme lack of expertise, and shameless OCP plugs.

Here is the only known pic of my wife on her Paradisus bike, while we were on vacation. Ain't she a peach? Well, at least I think so...Heck, I married her didn't I?

We spent a week in Sandpoint Idaho, and rode a good 135mi that week. Then drove up and spent another week in Calgary AB, to visit family mainly, but also got in a ride there as well.
I didn't get the chance to do the riding in Calgary I wanted, since it is really nice outside the city, but I did get some pristine riding in when we were in Idaho.

That's one big SUV in the picture. Is it yours? I don't want to stir anything since you probably missed that whole SUV thread.

Yes, that is my Suburban. We have a Toyota Corlla we use for commuting and running around town mainly. We us the Suburban for travelling, and as a spare in emergencies. I drive it to work once a week, just to keep it running good. Haven't seen the SUV thrad, but I will check it out. I personally like mine alot, but am not impressed with the gas bill.

Maybe you should give her back her saddle.

And I thought everyone looked bad in a helmet until Patriot came along --- what a showoff.

A few summers ago, our family did the same thing - drove up from Sandpoint to Alberta. Had never been to Sandpoint before and was only there long enough to wiggle our toes in Pend Oreille before hitting the road. Looked like a nice place to relax and ride. Canada was great and made it as far as Drumheller - terrific museum of palentology there, if you've not been there - but didn't realize that there was so little in-between cities/towns. Better be an able mechanic (which you obviously are) if you're riding there, 'cuz there isn't going to be much in the way of bike help. Hope you had a great time!

Patriot...
After further review of your picture, I hadto really think hard about this to try to come up with some kind of suggestion for a way to better pose...I got it!

The bike should be more to the side so we could have enjoyed the sheer beauty of both man and machine melding as one. (See Mrs/ Patriot)

Next time get it right man!

I was actually riding around my wife in tight circles, waiting for her to get clipped in, so we could get going. I noticed she was just standing there, and I was like, "WTHeck?"
She says to me, "Stop riding in circles and get in the picture, you're making me dizzy." So, I just hopped off real quick for a pic, then off we went on our 60 miler up to Priest Lake.
The cool water of Priest Lake was more than welcome after riding that far in 90F weather. I just ran down the beach into the water, and dove in head first.
