Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Thanks to the advice from this forum I thought I would post my new ride (well old!)

I am currently recovering from major surgery 3 weeks ago and also under going chemotherapy so it'll be 6 months until I can start training properly again but the ride around the block was the sweetest I have ever experienced

Cannondale R4000 with red, white and blue custom finish 54cm
Cannondale Slice Carbon fork
Mavic Ksyruim Elite (black finish) wheelset
Vittoria Open Corsa Evo - KS tyres
Shimano Ultegra 9 speed STI, 53/39 cranks, chain and rear sproket 12/25
Shimano Tiagra Front and Rear derailers
Shimano 105 Spdl pedals
Unknown Brakes but I think they are Tiagra
Selle Italia Flite Gel Seat (also got an aspide thrown in)

Overall I am very happy with the price I paid, going to upgrade the Tiagra components to Ultegra or Dura ace in the next few months

Thanks Bike forums for the advice

Fantastic bike!
Is that a quill stem?

Best of luck with your recovery.

Thanks Mark

I have a very unhealthy lust for C'Dales, ever since Cipo and the SAECO team made them cool I guess. I am an Aussie but couldn't resist the Stars and Stripes finish (little like our flag as well).

It is a quill stem, this is CAAD4 which I have been told was the last Cannondale bike with the quill setup, CAAD5 was the same frame with the new style (mountain bike ) stem setup. It is actually a BIANCHI branded stem. Not sure of its origin but it does have the 4 allen key bolts at the front which allows changing/swapping the bars without unwrapping that tape.

This bike will be playing a big part in my recovery I hope.

I've always been a sucker for Cannondales; congrats on it. Best of luck on a speedy recovery.
