Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Got my Brooks B17 today

My Brooks B17 arived today after my last morning ride before I taper for this weekend's Tour da U.P. across the eastern half of Michigan's Upper Peninsula.
My question: Should I put it on or leave it until I return?

I, personally, would wait until after the tour.
I wouldn't want to break-in a new saddle on a big ride.

believe it depends in large measure on the level of pain you have with your existing saddle. I ride the B.17 as well and as most report...one of the most comfortable touring saddles out there. There is a break in period however of about 500-800 miles or so but mine felt a whole lot better out of the box then the Italia Selle XO a$$hatchet that came on my new bike. If you have a lot of pain with your existing saddle...then probably not a leap in judgement to try the Brooks out for your trip. In any event, I would bolt the Brooks on and give it a try before you go to help in your decision.
Enjoy your new Brooks...a major Brooks following on this board.

Both of my Brooks (B.17 and B.17cs) were comfy right out of the box, but you might want to wait if you are at all used to your current saddle. BTW, nice blog!
