Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Polar CS200 Sensor Batteries - how long do they last?

I just took advantage of the latest nashbar codes (put 5 items in cart for automatic 20% off, then use code UBCK63 for an additional 15% = total of 32% savings) and took the plunge on a polar cs200 computer. I just realized that the battery in the speed sensor is not user replaceable, though... does anyone have any idea how long the batteries last and also how much it costs to get them serviced? This seems like a really stupid idea...

Also, does anyone sell a wireless that generates it's own power using the spinning magnet and never needs battery replacement?

I have the older sensors on my bike that are used for the Polar s series, and have had the same batteries in them for over two years now. Probably about 2,000 miles or so (as I didn't do much riding for the year I lived in Houston). I even have the sensors set to the highest transmitting power. They should last a while though.

Considering that they've only just released these, if anyone's alreadt used one enough to exhaust its batteries, then they're obviously junk.

Good point... it's a good sign that no one has responded with a battery failure yet. Anyone know how much it costs to have the battery replaced by polar should it ever fail?
