Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Read the "under $700 road bike thread" at the top of this forum. Remember that a good fit is the most important feature or any bike.

and some of those '05 bikes that list new for, say, $600-700 might be had now for much less at this time as the '06 bikes are making their way to stores.... are there bike shops in your area with good selections? start hanging out and shopping there and you might score a great deal on a more expensive bike that might fit your budget... and remember, unfortunately, that the bike is just the beginning - you'll be needing gear, kit, etc. to go with that will give your budget some real grief.... good luck!

what size bike do you ride? I have a new (only 150 miles) Trek 1000 that I would consider letting go for a good price. Let me know.
