Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Dude, I'll be enjoying life as a bachelor for a few weeks while the wife n tin lids are on hols with their grandparents. Won't be around on the weekends, but on the working weekdays there'll be plenty of miles to do.

If you wanna get out and about on Monday/Tuesday next week you could do worse than a loop of lake macquarie with me. Endless undulations to reduce you legs to the consistency of melted jelly.

He basically stood up and sed "I'm gonna make the top 1000 in my country (out of poulation 50M)". Was like red rag to many bulls. There was kickin and scratching, biting and name-calling. A real good rednecked ho-down with everyone trying to beat the crap out of the kid with no shoes.

I threw in "EUROstar is Son of 53-11Alltheway", but things had gotten so bad by then that it went totally unnoticed. Even Rad55 had been drawn into the vortex...

Jeezus....that's not very charitable.

Good-that he has set goals and is an actual BIKE RACER....

Bad-that he felt posting it on here might be a good idea. I swear 99% of the nufties who post their drivel on here see Jens Voigt when they look in the mirror.

No, it was the "EURO's phantom bike" thread that was the source of my fun. He made fun of guys riding expensive triples, and was accused of being jealous. So he started a thread where he built a fully Campy Cyfac, and posted photos of each piece as they came in. The first post in the thread was a very McCarthy era post - he named names and basically said "Here's my bike, you guys suck, kiss my ass".

Once the thread got going, it went ok. So I posted a warning that harassment wouldn't be tolerated. A poo-storm ensued. All was good for a bit, then he finished the bike, and he copped it again. Someone had it in for him, and he ended up banned. Because he wanted to be banned. More poo-flinging ensued, then cross-thread poo-flinging. EURO was outed, as someone figured out his true ID and posted his name and photo. Oh, somewhere in there I copped a heap for the banning, and what some people thought was favouritism towards EURO. I was only trying to stop the harassment, not protect a bigger tool than a Shopsmith. I think that covers it. Go see what else he posts - it's good value, entertainment-wise.

It looks like I missed all the real excitement over the weekend and the thread was removed while I was catching up. So, what's his nationality? You can tell us

I know it well. The weather's a bit drab this time of year. At least all the excitement stops attention being made to the cricket!

To give you his actual name would expose me to a minimum 1 week ban.

Anyone remember where Buckingham and his missus nicked off to?

Enough of EUROstar and his adventures.

Question without notice for Ed or any other expert in things that hurt. Had a hell day yesterdee, 130km of base over hilly terrain. Today, tired legs over the hills (first 60km) then its into gentle motorpace down the highway with the cagers. The first hill had majic quad burn like never before, then after that all normal, no burn, and can keep pace at target HR. What the hell happened there? How did the pins recover like that?

[edit] that wasn't very clear: burn happened after 60km of hilly stuff, on the first intense little rise on the hwy racing the cagers to werk[/edit].

ugh i jumpe don the road bike yesterday and again determined my positioning is no good. had really bad hamstring hurt anytime i looked at a hill. moving the seat back to its limit seemed to aleviate this a bit ( and seemed to more in line with kops) but ouch now im too stretched out and the back yelled enough after an hour and a half. im pretty sure that a shorter stem may be on order, need to take the bike to the lbs to get a 2nd oppinion.

Selfish trivial matter: Yesterday I was told that "Christmas" is not politically correct. The PC term is "Winter holidays". Hope you guys find that as funny as I did.

I'm from the old school, and the only thing I find politically incorrect these days is PC itself. Never let a wowser stand in the way of a good time, 200 years of history, or bad f@rt jokes

You all sound like a bunch of crocs. Well, to fit in, how about this one. (Applogies for those who don't want to read this, but you don't have to live with it, I do).

Hokay. Last Thursday, had myself a conoloscopy. For those that don't know, that's where they knock you out and shove a polaroid camera up yer kyber and do all sorts of other assorted party tricks. Anyway, it over and done with and the arseole's feeling remakably good. But my right hip and ankle is killing me. I'm thinking wtf they do to me while I was out, but don't think much of it. Went for a short 30 km ride yesterday which was okay, then did 70 km this morning. My hips still killing me and my ankles playing up something chronic, but what's worse is I have to be very delicate not to tweak my sac when I sit down. Normally it's not that badly behaved so I'm thinking I better have a look at it when I get home.

Now, I don't know about you fellas but I don't look at my sac much. It's a kind of non-descipt thing. Pretty borning. Guess it serves a purpose, but otherwise it's just meh. Anyway get home, go for a shower, flip the snag away to have a look at it, and fark me it's black. THE FARKERS BLACK!!! It's like all those years of me wishing I was hung like a black fella, god finally heard me and thought he'd play a bad joke. I'm half hung like a black fella alright. Just the wrong bit. Now I'm thinking WTF did they do to me while I was under? Take a bludy cricket bat to em or something? I mean why would they mess with them? Were they playing up in class or something so they took the paddle to em? So I've got a black sac and I don't know what it means. Hopefully a black sac doesn't turn into a bad sac, then I will be living up to my name. Don't know how this is going to effect my ride down to Narabeen on Thursday. Don't know how black sacs effect one on the bike?

So moral of the story. If ever you're going to go in for a procedure where they knock you out, get it video tapped. Who knows what the bastids do to you while you're out of it.
