Former hobbies...
Being new to cycling I wasted a lot of time with former hobbies. I came to the realization this morning on my 15 mile loop that I have wasted enough money on stupid golf to be riding almost any CF road bike available. And don't even get me started on the project 89 Silverado redneck-mobile. $7000 and a puttering, skipping mess. I could have taken the America By Bike tour by now if it wasn't for that decision. And it didn't make me any thinner. Neither did walking 18 holes while cursing that stupid dimpled ball all over God's creation.
I wish I'd known sooner...

Photography and SCCA Solo II Racing (sorta like a time trial for cars)
I've managed to combine the two and ended up doing motorsports photography.

Hoping to get into cycling photography.

Why do they have to be "former" hobbies? I ride 3-4 days a week and also play golf 2-3 times a week. I don't see any reason to limit myself to one hobbie/sport/activity. Just my .02!

I used to play around with R/C cars. I mainly liked to build them. I also play golf but haven't had time to go out this year.

Umm, guns and motorcycles(I love 2 wheels) were a bad vice for a while. Still have the scooter and a bunch of guns still. I just don't buy any more.

My former hobby was bodybuilding. But I still do weightlifting in the winter.
Before that it was running. I still do a lot of walking and hiking, but running is out for me.

Beer making...Here in Mississippi, we are bound by the 6% ABV law. This prohibits us from having many of the good micro-brews available out there. So, I make my own. Have a kegging setup in my garage, and I can go pull a cold one any time I want.

Current hobbies: Mountain biking, hiking, backpacking, off roading in my mostly stock Chevy Colorado, and building my Nissan 240SX (not much progress on the 240 at the moment; it's at the other end of the country)
I've been into cars, bikes, and outdoor stuff for years and see no reason to change.

Cycling has always been my first love (my wife says obsession), but I'm also into Hill Walking and have gone through phases when I'll spend the weekend in Scotland or the Lake District walking and not on the bike. I guess like most of you I've spent a shed load of cash on stuff for the other hobbies, but you always come back to your true love

I don't get a chance to talk about this much, but I have another hobby that I am getting back into after years of being away from. This is one of my latest projects. For those who know nothing about airplanes, it is a "Citabria Pro", with an 80" wingspan, made from balsa wood. 6 months of work, and all hand made.
And yes, it does fly. Beautifully, I may add.

I'm also into planes -- but RC sailplanes. Some similarites to cycling since sailplanes are strong, light, silent. Also into swimming and (when I was younger) surfing.

Ducatis. Don't plan on making them "former" though. Still have a few more track days left this year. Nothing quite like it.

motocross - dont want to sell my bikes, but i have pretty much stopped riding/racing, drag racing - have been building a pro import for two years due to people ripping me off, just got the car done, but i still dont have the motor - , paintball - just sold my gun, dirt jumping and street (bmx bike) - my bike got stolen so i quit, built some import cars but had bad luck with accidents... so i drive a jeep right now, snowboarding in the winter, my dad has a trio of ducati's that we are always working on/riding..
play bass, listen to a lot of music
video games used to take up a good portion of my day.. mostly the tony hawk stuff.. and then madden and gt4
i dunno...everyone i know thinks im too busy for another hobby.. and i originally wanted to start riding road bikes to train for motocross... but i think i'd rather just race bikes

Skiing (I moved to Florida), bass fishing (the best road bike is cheaper than the cheapest bass boat), hunting.
I do a lot of woodworking during cooler weather.

Man, I must live a boring life. Those are all great hobbies. If I didn't want to devote my free time to riding I think it'd be photog and the RC planes. Those are both just too cool. Thanks, everyone.

Former hobbies would be hunting. (I quit 2 years ago and got a Canon Elan 7E) Hand loading and archery too.
Current are cycling, it gets the bulk of my time. At the moment.
Golf is on the way out.
Photography is dwindling too.
Rod building is on the rise.
Fly tying and fly fishing. Got a few trips going over the next couple of months for King Salmon. Then it's Steelhead in Nov. I spend a lot of time in the winter tying flies and such, then during the season I only do what needs to be done. During January and February I can pretty much do up all the salmon and steelhead and trout flies I'll need for the year. Fly stuff is still #1.

In the BC (before children or before cycling, take your pick) era, I used to be a rock climber and homebrewer.
I'm still a mountaineer/peak bagger/hiker but not so much technical "sport" climbing. I drink beer still, but getting the time to make it is difficult.
I do still make time for music (I play bass and sing), and camping.

Up through college-Track(sprints/hurdles), Soccer, video games(Nintendo)
After college-track, roller hockey then ice hockey
Picked up photography and golf due to a lot of traveling with work.
Started shooting photography "professionally" for a local paper(Very Expensive hobby)
Tried to get back into soccer to lose weight..to hard on my older body, went for low impact biking
