Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Largest tires on Cannondale

Hello!
I have a 1990 vintage Cannondale 3.0 road bike and I was wondering if anyone could tell me what the largest tires I could fit on it would be. This is a great bike for most of my riding except when I want to go down one of many loose dirt roads in my area. The 700x20 Specialized tires fitted now just dig into anything not hard packed. Once I tried installing 700x32 hybrid tires that barely fit in the frame, but they hit the top of the brake calipers due to the larger diameter. Perhaps a 25 or 28 with some tread?

Thanks

Dave
