How to measure cadence?
How do you measure your cadence? My computer doesn't do it and a guy I met on a ride yesterday mentioned shooting for ~90/min. Do I count both legs or just one? Thanks!

Cadence is revs/min. So count the time one leg goes down in 10 secs - if it goes 15 times you are doing 90 rpm. 80 rpm for 13 strokes.

I'm bad at math so I just count each time my right foot comes to the top of the circle for 60 seconds.

To measure cadence (rev/min), count the number of times one foot goes around for 6 seconds then add a zero after the number. Quick and easy way to check cadence while riding.

What an easy way for even the boneheads in math to figure it out.... Let's see.....a number and then place a zero after it, or is that before it, and what number...how many seconds? Inane but I taught math for years and those questions....they would be asked!

Enough of this counting crap. If you know your speed and what gear your in you can calculate your cadence. I have this laminated little chart attached to my stem. It is for 90 rpms. Far left is the cog, then the 53 chain ring column and the 39 chain ring column showing speed. Fairly easy to guess 80 rpm and 100 rpm but bumping up or down approx 10%.
It has worked well for me.

$20 - 20% +.99 shipping...
$17 and you have thoughtless cadence.
edit: mindless.... not thoughtless. "Thoughtless" makes it sound like the computer is inconsiderate
