Honestly, its all about the schedule weather I catch a group ride. I dont mind riding with others if there close to the same fitness level as me. But a ride alone is always nice too in order to get away from it all.

No option for "both"? I like to push by myself but working together as a team and hauling arse is fun too. Little of both is my choice.

depends on the partner, but if we are at the same fitness level i'd prefer two, but it's way too hard to find such a partner so i mostly ride alone, then do little rides with friends.

All of my rides this year have been solo. Looking back through the rides I did ten years ago, I find that 95% of them were done solo. I did a lot of riding in the mid 1980s, and most of that was solo. Solo riding means that you're not having to wait, or be waited for, so there's less pressure from that point of view. I've done MS and other charity rides with hundreds of other riders and they're fun, but I guess I'm just a curmudgeon who prefers his own company… either that or it might be to do with the fact that I have a predilection to eat raw garlic… yum…

I use to ride in a group but all of those guys have drifted into their own direction. So I ride solo and sometimes with one friend once awhile. Nothing swrong with riding solo, somethimes you can run into someone else faster, and then you can find your motivation to ride just that much more harder than by yourself. And yet after that concludes you can continue on your way riding the way you want to.

I prefer to ride alone at least 90% of the time. I only really like group rides if they are scorching
I know somw riders who've come from team sports, and are the type of guys who can't do anything on their own. I think if a cyclist struggles to ride without company, then they're in trouble if they wanna be a strong rider.

I used to ride alone all the time, 'cause nobody else would cut school to ride. Now, I only ride alone in the early season when my friends complain about being able to see their breath. I enjoy riding alone sometimes. It gives clarity and I can think about things, or I can just stop thinking altogether.

My schedule is all over the board, and I bike when I want to, sometimes before work, almost always on days off but those days change cause my work is weird.

I really don't have a comparison...I never see any other riders around here. I think I would like to ride in a small group from time to time.

also you need to consider that at least some folks would be a bit skittish about riding with a fellow named matanza.

I enjoy both. Lately I've gotten tired of the all out, quasi-racing rides so I've been riding on my own just for the pleasure of it, choosing my own routes and challenges.

I voted before I actually read the post. I thought it was asking what you do, not what you prefer. I ride alone for the most part. Some weekends I'll go biking with my father and a couple of his friends, but usually it's just me. If I coud find people in my area, of similar skills, I would ride with them though.

I also do both. I often ride out to meet people, so some of my rides are half of each.

I almost always ride alone. I don't have a very regular schedule and there aren't any group rides (that I know of) that are close enough. I like to roll out of the garage and ride.
Maybe it's off topic but I think it defeats the purpose to put my bike on the car drive 15-20 miles to a group ride location then again back home after the ride.
