Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Scumbag who killed cop on roadbike is in big trouble

This guy killed a roadbiking cop on the ever popular Red Rock Canyon loop - the mecca for roadbikers out here with it's awesome scenery and wild burros. Ya know what happens to cop killers in prison...
Hit And Run Suspect Scheduled For Federal Court
08-22-2005 6:55 PM

(Las Vegas, NV) -- The man in custody for a fatal hit and run accident is scheduled to appear in a federal courtroom tomorrow on separate charges. Authorities say 27-year-old Michael Reich already faces state charges for last month's accident on State Route 159 that killed off-duty police officer Don Albietz. He also faces a federal court of being an ex-felon in possession of firearms. Prosecutors say Reich, who served time in Wisconsin, had firearms in his possession when officers arrested him at his Pahrump home. If convicted on that charge, Reich could get up to ten years in a prison, and a fine of 250-thousand-dollars.

Hopefully he gets more than he deserves. Society doesn't have room for this type of person.

I thought they loved cop killers in prison, considering most people in prison were put there by cops.
Maybe you mean they hate child molesters in prison.

Dude have you ever known anybody who works in corrections? They don't like the cop killers and will make this dude's life miserable in pound-me-in-the-a55 prison by making him roomates with Bubba Love.

This guy deserves anything he gets in prison or elsewhere, but it is sad that the only reason this is news is because the cyclist killed was a cop. He was off-duty. If this were another cyclist killed by a felon they would just say he is being punished enough with the weapons violation and we would never hear about it again.
