Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Moots owners: What do you use to wash your frame? Plain water? An over the counter cleaner? How do you wash it so that it has a nice uniform finish where sweat and sports drinks have splashed onto the frame? I find that after I wipe it down with a wet rag and after it dries, I have to buff it a bit to work out those areas.

comments? suggestions?

edit: I suppose Moots Ti is redundant isn't it?

For my Ti bike I use that pink finish line cleaner works well but yea you have to use a little elbow grease. Have also just taken a rag with some Acetone on it to clean the spots as it dries spot free. the only problem with water based cleaning unless you can get the frame dried before the sun/heat/dry air.

I clean my Merlin with a damp but not wet rag - that way you don't end up with drops per se.

FWIW - Tom Kellogg, the frame designer for Merlin and custom builder, actually advocates giving Ti a clear coat to make it look better and easier to clean.

I was mine with Dawn Dishwashing detergent, after it dries I spray Pedro's Bike Lust Polish and wipe it down with that. I have had her a little over a year puting over 8700 miles on and on my last ride I had three people ask me if I was riding a brand new bike.

Don't get it on the wheels or tires it stays slippery for a long time, but the furniture polish does not.
It can also totally ruin a saddle forever.
