Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I found a great deal on a Kestrel 4000

Got a free Kestrel 4000 road bike this weekend. So far it seems like a cool bike.
What do you all think??

Thanks

I am new to the bike forum. I also recently purchased a kestrel 4000 frame . Upon building up the bike I ran into a problem with the way the cable routes through the frame and to the front derailer. The cable comes out of the frame on the opposite side of the bottom brack from the front derailer. the cable has to wrap around the frame to the back of the front derailer. the bike will shift down but won't shift up. How does your bike work? Has anyone else run into this problem???

Thanks Adam Spivey

Well Adam, welcome to Bike Forums - at least we know that you've discovered the "search" function.

You may want to post this question in the Mechanic's Forum, possibly with pictures.

By the way, you'll get flamed for resurrecting old threads, and flamed for not using the search function for previously discussed topics. Damned if you do, damned if you don't. Don't let it scare you away.
