Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

How to clean a brush used to glue tubulars?

I bought a couple small brushes to apply tubular cement/glue to some rims recently. Got the glue nicely on the rims, but I'm having trouble cleaning the brushes and don't want to buy a new brush every time I do this. Soaking the brushes in acetone or alcohol doesn't seem to help much. Tubular cement/glue is tough, tacky stuff which comes off of a rim okay with some acetone and a soft rag, but it doesn't come out of a brush very well.

An attempt to apply glue with a toothbrush turned me off. Bristles aren't soft enough despite using the softest grade. Using a plastic bag over my index finger proved too messy.

Any tips?

Buy new brushes and toss these ones. I can't imagine you will ever get them clean enough to use again
