How Could I Not Come Back After The Cheese Head Ride Photos!
Good grief, after looking at those photos if I was ever needed it was at that ride Saturday to consult on style alone!
CPcyclist PM'd me about the ride, but I saw it too late. Thank you for your kind words in the cheese head ride thread.
How ironic that the date and the place that I suggested weeks ago for the ride is the one you guys picked...but I wasn't even there! Oh well, I WAS out on a solo ride at the time, chasing down, then kicking a guy's arse after he gave me "The Look" not once, not twice, but three times on the ride. But that's another story.
I'm so glad you guys did a ride. Next time, bigger group and I'll be there to lead the poseur parade.
As for posting here, several of you mailed me and said that as long-timers, you too went through what I went through recently...perhaps a little BF burnout. You explained to me how you simply pulled back from posting a bit, but still lurked and remained a member.
Great advice. I will follow it.
Welcome back Hip.
Why thank you Hip.

The Eagles toured again. Michael Jordan retired and unretired about 16 times. And now we have Hipster back in the saddle.
Who had two weeks in the office pool?
But seriously, Ben Cousins is posting all sorts of tosh about upgrading the engine instead of the bike, etc. We need the services of the OCP Fashion Consultant more than ever - and when it comes to OCP Fashion, balance is never enough.

Glad to know you're still here. I lived in Green Bay from 1960 through 1980 so I'm partial to cheeseheads.

Hot dang... Hip's back online!
Hey, if there are any future Cheesehead rides, are those of us a few miles south of the Cheese/FIB stateline welcome to tag along at a safe distance if we can sing "On Wisconsin!"?

I am glad I could send you over the edge and back here to help restore some balance. You can see from the pictures there is much work for you to do here. I may have a TI (OCP) bike but I do still need help in the clothing department. I am sure you also saw there is one who truly needs your help........Akanar..... he did do good for a first bike with the Bianchi w/ Campy in Celest (sp?) but needs more help in the fashion department.
In Wisconsin we pose after the ride with Beer not lattes. Check back to theHey Cheeseheads thread for the next ride we are looking to do near Madison. Hope to see you there.

Excuse me, but we "FIBs" know what that means!
As a former "Upper", I also know what Wisconsinites meant when they called us "trolls"! (meaning we lived "under the bridge")!
But that's OK, because as a child growing up in New York, my relatives would threaten me that if I didn't study and do well in school that I would end up somewhere out in the middle of Oshkosh! (meaning "nowhere")!
So every time I visit Oshkosh now, I send them postcards that read, "I made it!"

There are plenty of middle of nowhere places in Wisconsin, but as long as there is a bar we call it a town. Just think Trek corporate is here in a town with a bar called the Stumble Inn which is on the opposite side of a river/stream of the town church go figure.
And FIB that means Fabulous Ill. Biker
And I am sure you have plenty of nice names for us too.
Hopefully you can make one of the rides next year maybe November.

Just teasing...I do know what it REALLY means, but so what? I'm originally from New York! My relatives there really did threaten "ending up in Oshkosh", but they were so batty--and some have spent their entire lives never stepping a single foot outside Manhattan! That's what makes sending them postcards from Oshkosh--and everywhere else--so much very much fun!
I love Wisconsin, call Wisconsinites the "nicest people I know", and it's my favorite place to ride! I'm posting right now from the "corporate apartment" my husband's company has sent us to live for the next few months in Florida, or I'd be right there joining your ride!
For anyone here who hasn't ridden in Wisconsin, go now! You're in for a real treat! I swear they've got the best trails ever, filled with peaceful countryside, scenic views, and roads that you can ride on all day without encountering a single car--much less, any "road rage" or rude motorists. Oh, and where total strangers will come right up and talk to you, offering helpful tips and riding information, and even ask you to join them! It's a wonderful way to get away from the stress of life in Chicagoland.
Quite the contrast from Illinois--so "FIBs"? Yep, sad to say, there's a lot of truth there.

It is alarming, though, the sheer percentage of weekenders with Land of Lincoln plates on I-94 on both sides of Lake Michigan... it's not that we're trying to infringe on the beauty of Wisconsin and Michigan... it's that we come to get away from the flatness and lights of the Megalopolis that is THE CITY.
Okay... I'll be on my best behavior... "On Wisconsin! On Wisconsin...!"

Hey it even better when the Church Picnic has a beer tent and the father is sitting in there pounding beers back and you are hard pressed to see any adults out side the tent.
Cross Plains even has a Beer Parade celebrating.... drinking. The local brewery sponsors it.
Yes, FIB (as is generally know) is aimed at Chicago not all of Illinois.

Oh come on now! I'm a New Yorker, born in Manhattan, and who in this country DOESN'T have a problem with New Yorkers? Geez! My relatives called the characters on the Seinfeld show "New Yorkers on valium" because they were pretty mellow compared to everyone we knew.
I lived in Louisiana for a while where I quickly learned to lie, and tell people I was from California so they would stop calling me a "Damn Yankee"! Still can't believe that, considering my accent, they actually bought it!
Most people in Chicagoland have no idea what FIB means--in fact, one of my clients told me he continuously heard the term "FIB" mentioned when in Wisconsin and when I told him what it meant, he was flabberghasted. Of course I didn't tell him that as an extremely successful, and ruthless businessman, he does tend to be a little blunt--ok, so maybe all his employees did flee from the office in terror a few times when him and I got into it...never bothered either him or me.
But Wisconsin is just so lovely--scenic, mellow--Madison, Door County, Green Bay--large bus tours go there from Chicago in the autumn just to see the colors turning on the leaves!
