Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

to sell or not to sell?

here's a question i've been pondering... the bike i recently bought (used) came with a set of mavic equipe 700c's as well as the stock alex at-400's. Both have cassettes (albeit, different ones - go figure, which is a pain) on them and QR's. should i keep the alex rims for backups or try to sell them? or should i sell the mavic rims and use that $$ to pay for the bike? i got a sweet price on the package in the first place... so i should be happy i was able to get the mavics at all.

just curious what you guys thought.

fyi the bike is a '04 specialized allez pro.

Sounds like you need a money management course.

Sell the wheels and pay off the mortgage.

Interesting question, my first thought was sell both and get some better wheels, then I looked on Ebay and saw what your current wheels were going for, around 30-50 for the Alex's and $150 for Equipes, so if you got really good prices for them, you would have about $250-$300, might as well keep them both. Your not going to be able to much after selling the Alex's and it would be nice to have an extra set around.

More info on the Alex's please. I wouldn't mind backup wheels.

i think i have to agree - it'd be more worth it to keep them since i basically got them for nothing. as soon as i sell them i'd be wishing i had a backup pair, then i'd probably get backups and spend more than i made selling them in the first place...
