Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Your vote counts

Ok i am taking a vote- narrowed it down to two, Look 585 or cervelo r2.5- your vote counts and any opinions, informed or otherwise, would be appreciated. currently riding trek 5200, 1999 version, 50 yo, 5'7", 150 lbs, and plan to outfit the bike for climbing, ie likely compact cranks, lightest possible components, ya ok call me a weight weenie i don't care, my number one goal for next year is to do the triple bypass again, finish with a better time(8h56m) last year(1st time) 120 miles 10000 feet climbing for you easterners don't know what it is. thanks in advance.

I think the 585 is a little lighter, so for a super-whammy-weight-weenie bike, that I think is a better choice.
You may also want to consider a Scott CR-1. They are also Uber light and stiff cf frames. Affordable compared to many other high end frames as well.

Take a look at my custom weight weenie bike I did myself. Sub 15#, and rides smooth as silk. Click on the Trinity link below.

hey, you need to ride them--simple as that

this "vote" doesn't count, seriously

no one on the internet can tell you which will work for you better, if you'd said "Which, a LOOK or a wal-mart Denali" then the choice would be obvious, but the LOOK and Cervelo are both nice

seriously--these threads are pointless. you'll just get a bunch of LOOK owners telling you to buy a LOOK and a bunch of Cervelo owners telling you Cervelo

when frames are this good it only comes down to your opinion, purely subjective

go ride them

How can you say that? (buy a LOOK) No one on this forum would be so partisan (buy a LOOK). Everyone here only give good solid objective advice (buy a LOOK).

Seriously though he's absolutely right, they are both fine frames but you may like one more than the other. That doesn't mean one is better it just means one is better for you.

But if you want an opinion about LOOK's I love the two I've owned, and as an older guy in the same weight range as you I can tell you the uber stiff CF frames like the CR1 feel more like the stiff aluminum frames I've owned. Meaning they are a bit harsh.

yea i'd love to have the bayonne except it is beaucoup expensivo and at least from what i infer from the cervelo website not currently available. and if you think someone's thread is pointless why not just not bother to read it rather than come on and slam them- what difference does it make to you if i want to spend a few seconds asking for opinions of others who might have one of these bikes -lighten up, poseur.
