1st Ride on my new 2nd hand 00 P2 Cervelo TT bike....Results.
I just got the bike in Friday and I brought it straight to the LBS and told him I would like to ride it tomorrow; give it a good once over. He spent about 20 minutes on it and it was ready to go. Soooo, I bought me some tubes because these are 650 c rims and I was off. We have a locally organized ride every saturday morning consisting of about 25 to 50 riders for at least 40 miles. Normally I wouldn't ride a TT bike in a pack but I had to ride it or it would have killed me. The rides pace usually goes about 20mph until midway, then we go to about 26-27 range and drop the girlfriends. Then there are mad dashes for certain mile markers we use just for fun. The bike really felt stiff but responsive and uncomfortable in the upright position but once laid over it was really comfy and felt that I could go long distances in this position. A few tweaks with the seat; maybe point it down a little more; and it will be perfect. This is my first time on a TT bike and boy was I getting some weird stares from others in the group. One guy even suggest I not ride this type of bike in the group. I knew what he was referring to, which was getting aero in the pack, with the inability to grab the brakes quickly. I quickly snapped back and told him I was not an idiot; I will only use them if I'm up front, besides I will not normally ride this bike with the group. See my signature for other bike. He then went on and said, even up front something could come out in front of you ie car, dog, etc. I realized there was no winning with this guy but replied, "then that would negate anyone riding a TT bike, now would it". He kinda slid on back after that because I have him by about 30 pounds. Sooo, without all the yappin the bike rode great, and I can't wait to get out all on my own and just ride the straight flat roads of Louisiana, what's left of them.
