Enough with the walmart bikes, there are more crap road bikes out there

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I know Target have 2 heavy road bikes around $200. I looked at their site, but they don't show em. But if you go to their bike section they're there.

I tried to ride it around the aisle once, it really heavy to lift around. I don't even remember it's name. Besides, I'm not even sure they're real road bikes, maybe just the ergo handlebars.

Kinda stupid they sell em but aren't on their site while walmart has em on the site, but not in the stores.

Anyway, check em out sometime. Bring a camera. I forget what they look like.

There is a Dick's by us in Chicagoland and they have several of the new Schwinn road bikes starting at around $499. I gave them a little consideration...very little. Schwinns don't seem to be made the same way any longer...

They pimp Giro and Bell helmets, Pearl Izumi shorts and jerseys, and Cateye computers. Decent prices, but I'd rather go to my lbs.

They only have mountain bikes. Cheap ones. It's like walmart, but with more crappy bikes to choose from.

Dicks tend to have decent smaller items bike comps helmets gloves etc. Essentialy any thing smaller than a bike youll find it at dicks at a decent price for decent quality.I cant recall if they had a tire tube etc section there now though. But hey if your lbs doesnt carry the tires you want you might want to check out dicks on the off chance they do. Havent been to one for years.

Id say tools gloves helmets clothign in general prob not a bad place to stop just to have a look. And come to think of it i need a job so maybe ill just have to drop in for a application tomorow.

- interesting how Bell and Giro helmets are sold side-by-side in many places, considering (IIRC) nearly all helmets/helmet companies are owned by Bell!

(and Bell owns Blackburn, too!)
