Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

8:35 Central Time....I'm about to get to work on-line. In two hours I'm heading out despite the nip in the air. 35 degrees this morning. It should be in the 40's with sun when I leave though.

Batteries on my digital camera are charging.

I've gotten a lot of nice feedback about the autumn colors photos I have posted recently....so my mission today is to take a few more while I can. You see, the forecast calls for clouds and rain right through the weekend after today, when the leaves are peaking in color. This could be the last chance at getting the best photos.

I'll go see what I can get and post a thread afterward.

Watch, today will be the day I end up seeing him....you know who....going the same way as me and game will once again be on.

We'll see....but it's pictures I'm after first.

I want to see the brilliant crimson splashes of Knave blood adorning an odsidian roadway, surrounded by all of nature's majesty. Godspeed to you, Sir Hip.

Hip....

You can fool yourself but you can't fool us. We know what you are after.

I think it's time for a third party to organize a time trial between Hip and The Knave...

Side bets welcome....

...it WOULD be a good picture today too....cold enough to see your breath so we'd have those clouds of breath puffing out of our mouths....me looking back at the poor pitiful man gasping for air as he tries as he might to keep up with me, only to realize that THIS time I give no quarter....this time his little games leave him empty and in despair.

Yes, THIS is the stuff legends are made of....

Hip, you're going to have to provide us a Team kit before we "hunt" The Knave. Then we'll all look like you're domestiques. You could put his picture on the back inside a circle with a diagonal line through it. We'll work hard and then let you pull out and take the win.

PS: I'll take a medium jersey and bib shorts, unless they're cut Euro in which I'll take a Large jersey. Can you pick us up some matching jackets because its much colder where you are than here in Maryland.

You're crazy, Galen. Hip has already taken him on the flats, even waited up to let him stay close. Its the finishing the hills that The Knave has taken Hip. I say 20K flat and Hip is a shoe in for a win.

The Knave would let Hip lead out, suck wheel, 80% of the time, then pass Hip in a flurry of hairy legged spinning, then pull off 100 yards from the finish just to be spiteful. At this point, Hip's head explodes.

I'll take Hip in a TT but I'd pick the Knave in a road race because he has a tactical advantage.

Tactical, maybe... psychological definitely. He has Hip pretty messed up.
