When Good Bikes Go Bad

I came home tonight and upon opening the door to my apartment, I knew right away something wasn't right. I smelled rubber.... and grease. I stepped into the hallway and saw the tires marks all over the floor! Then I turned cautiously into the living room and there they were!
My two road bikes 5200 & 5000 were backed into the wall against the wine rack and the tv. And keeping them at bay was.... Klein my trusted Mountain Bike!! What the!?? 5200 tried to move forward, never one to be held back, but Klein just gave "that look" as if to say "Don't even think about it, or I'll burn my knobbies across your top tubes again!" When I inquired why they were out of the spare room where they normally resided, Klein told me of how the "two lightweights" as she called them were unsettled, they hadn't been ridden in weeks (I have a leg injury) and they needed to stretch their legs. But, they couldn't decide who would get out first. A scuffle insued and 5200 being the slightly lighter and more agile of the two got away into the rest of the house. 5000 was not to be outdone, curning the slick silica tires in an effort to keep up. They two fought like true siblings all over the kitchen, the hallway and even into the living room, but when 5000 scuffed up against the leather couch... well old Klein had about all she could stand! She rolled bumpily out of the spare room, bar ends flared into the air and startled the two youngsters! Penning them into the small area where she kept them save from themselves until I arrived home to take control of things. I thanked her. But how could I really punish the other two. Wasn't riding free and fast their mission in life? As it was my attention was already divided amongst the two of them. 5000 being the youngest got the training and weekly club rides, while 5200 got the finest days of weather, tour rides and the occasionaly friendly race. Heed my warning fellow BF roadies... don't let the wheels be idle too long or you may be shocked to come home one day and find out what your bike has really been doing. Picture of the standoff below.

cycle17 -- you're a horrible owner. You're lucky they didn't pee all over the carpets and chew-up the furniture.

I had to quick, turn my monitor away from 'the Mistress" (the Peugeot).
Although she rests gracefully here beside me at all times, she too is restless.
And on numerous occassions I swear I heard her chuckle as she read over my shoulder.
Thanks for the warning!
