Should I bid?!

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

The price is going to go waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay up, but I say go for it looks like a sweet bike. Just remember to bid near the end, not now.

Man, that bike looks nice.

Yes, definitely follow eskimo's advice and try to snipe a bid if it hasn't gone too high. Remember to enter the maximum amount you'd be satisfied spending on the bike. Have a feeling things might really move that last minute or two.

The guy only has three feedbacks, so I'd consider that as well. Still, sure is a pretty thing.

Sniping is waiting til the last possible moment in an auction to put in your bid. Sometimes it works, sometimes it don't.

Unless I'm using the wrong word, sniping means biding with less than a minute left, so that there is less opportunity for another bidder to steal it away from you. Some of those already bidding might have entered significantly higher bids already which is why I think it might get a little wild at the end.

If you're interested in sniping and don't want to be glued to your computer, you can use a sniping service. I use www.auctionsniper.com and have had great success, of course you have to pay for the service.

Nah, now that's just cheating Much more fun to strain your eyes, nervously anticipating those last few seconds with a stopwatch in one hand and your mouse in the other The bad part is when us East coasters are watching items from the West coast, that are ending waaay past our usual bedtimes...

I wasn't a proponent of sniping, but over the last month or so I've been looking to piece together a kick @ss time trial bike for my wife for Christmas. I placed bid after bid in the last possible seconds of countless auctions only to be beat out on some really cool frames and bikes that went for awesome prices. I hadn't even heard of sniping until it was mentioned in passing, then this evening, after loosing yet another auction by one freakin dollar, I downloaded some free sniping software and within an hour I won two auctions back-to-back, and picked up a sweet new Cannondale and a rear disc wheel. Problem solved! I can now leave Ebay and let the rest of you duke it out over there.
