Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Moto: How do you like me in orange?

Thought I'd cross post this here from the single speed forum. Oooh, I could post in commuting too! lol. My latest and greatest Moto for the stable. I saw the orange Moto Messenger and had to get it for the orange paint. Just got finished putting on the bullhorn handlebars - I have some black Velocity Deep V wheels with black IRO hubs and spokes on the way. Also some Vredestein orange on orange tires.

Nice Moto (but then, I'm a sucker for orange bikes). The Deep V's will only make it look better. Personally, though, I think it would look cleaner/ better without orange tires, but that's just my 2 cents.

ssshhhh - Don't tell Alanbikehouston, or the gig is up! I needed a cheap commuter bike so I turned to Sprtymama on Ebay for this little single speed. I'm a little addicted now and have spent a couple hundred in upgrades already. Doh! I thought the key reason for this bike was "cheap"! Oh well. Oh well, its been fun riding it, and I have to admit my Le Champ has been leaned against a wall for a little while now.

I came into some extra fundage recently, and was SORELY tempted to get one of those Immortal Force's in black.... Instead I've been good (so far) and put MOST of it in savings.... (where it is sitting, mocking me....)

It was funny because on my way back from lunch (on my bike) I ran into another guy riding a Le Champ. Chatted with him for a bit about our Moto's.....

Orange is cool. Congratulations on the new toy. Here's what your tires will look like.

Yeah, i think i'd be reluctant to go tooo orange. Besides, Orange and black were made to go together, just like peanut butter and jelly. And if you get to many differing shades of orange then it looks funny. Go with black tires!

Raven - what size is that rig? I was very close to buying a 60cm blue Messenger on eBay but by the time I got around to they were all gone...

I saw the orange tires and had to try 'em out. I'll see how they look. Remember, the rims are deep aero style rims and have black spokes/hubs. It may offset the orange tires pretty well. I wouldn't mind getting a black fork though. I may also get a chris king headset - perhaps orange also.

14Max - Its a 58cm. You have to remember though that Moto's are sized from center bb to top of the seat tube. Most bikes are sized from center bb to center top tube, which makes the Moto's seem sized "smaller". My 58cm moto is more like a 55cm in a lot of other brands.

Ostuni - it didn't really show in the pics but I really dig the handlebar tape I got. Its the Cinelli "carbon fiber" looking bar tape. It looked cheesy in the package but looks GREAT on IMO. I was going to do the orange/black pattern thing but I really like how the tape looks right now. I do have some orange bar tape I ordered with the tires on the way, but I probably won't use it - for now anyway.

yes, I am. I just don't have a proper set of cable cutters handy at the moment so I just coiled it and zip tied it down for the moment.

IMO your higlight color should be white to match the lettering on the frame, bar tape, tires, and saddle - that would be hot!
