Ultegra in de future?
Hmm,
. I want an Ultegra “dura-ace is too much $” set but I don’t wanna pay the thousand or so they want for it
new. Could I find a dealer who would sell a new or relatively un-used Ultegra set for under $500? I seen
whole bikes in the thousand dollar range on the net with a full set, why can’t I find a set cheaper? And they
got $ tires and $ frame.

buy the bike, strip the parts, sell what you dont want. $500 is way under wholesale for an ultegra group no way you will find a new or relatively unused set for that price. The STI levers alone wholesale is almost half of that.

I'm almost positive that you will not find 10 speed Ultegra for $500 because I would like to think thats below MAP.

$719 for 9-piece Ultegra 10. Cheapest regular price I've seen and I bought my group from them. https://www.bikesandgear.com/products.asp?cat=12

Why not just go 105? Not like you're loosing much, and replacement parts are much cheaper when they wear out.

thanks bhh, that is the best price I have seen for a groupset for my build. I know you said you bought them, any problems with the online retailer? Did you already get your order, I was just double checking, I am always unsure of a new online guy until I see if anyone has had problems with them..thanks

I've had it for a few months now, since mid-August. Everything arrived fine but a little slow.
I have to admit I got a bit nervous though because it took about 2 weeks and they were very slow in responding to email. I finally called them and spoke to someone and it was just delayed because they were out of stock on the 12-27 rear cassette I specified. The guy seemed nice and helpful but I got the impression they were a small shop and not a well-oiled online retailer. Give them a call to check availability on what you are looking for and see what kind of impression you get. They ask me where I heard of them when I called and I said someone recommended them on BikeForums and they seemed pretty happy.

I dont know about selling the frame for alot of money. Its just a knock off brand that supergo offers. I dont think poeple on ebay are looking for no name frames. Just my opinion.

Definitely check eBay for used bikes that have good components and sell the frame.
I agree that you wouldn't get much for the Scattante frame, but you also have wheels, handlebar, stem, seatpost, etc. to sell. I have a feeling you could get the $431 to beat the price from bikesandgear.com. Don't they have TruVativ cranks, though? You have to go up to the CFR to get an Ultegra crank. Get a 52 cm frame. I could use a cheap carbon frame.
I think the best bet is to try to find something like a used Cannondale on eBay for around $1,000. Cannondale frames usually sell for a good price.

$668 + shipping for a 6600 double gruppo. I paid $710 total, no hassles and it arrived from Ireland in 4 days.
