Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Basic wireless cycle computer recommendation?

Hi Everyone,

I'm looking for a basic (speed/distance) cycle computer that is:

-wireless
-reliable
-resistant to RF interference effects
-cheap (around $20-30)

Does anyone have a good recommendation?

Thanks,

R.

I got a Cateye Micro Wireless off ebay shipped for like 34 bucks. Haven't had battery problems, or loss of signal.

I think for those that have minimal inreference problems, the Vetta have some good prices on theirs. You can get the basic V100 speed versions for around $50-60 off Ebay. You can also get them with wireless cadence too.

The cateyes micro is nice. I think the Vettas have the digital signal that is supposed to better though. I could be wrong.

I have the Cateye CD300DW double wireless speed and cadence. I love it. No interference, as it is an upgraded design over the micro, and both sensors/transmitters are all in one unit you mount to the chainstay. Easy setup. No fuss, no muss.

I've had great success with Sigma's BC1600. Nashbar has the wireless version on sale for $24.95. https://www.nashbar.com/profile.cfm?c...eid=&pagename=

For wireless, I use a CatEye Cordless 7. It seems to meet your specs.

One other thing you may want to consider is if you want the wireless to work off of the rear wheel for use indoors on a cycle trainer. Many of the wireless cyclocomputers today use a sensor mounted on the front fork. If you tried to configure the sensor to work with the rear wheel, it'll be too far from the computer (if mounted on the handlebar) to be picked up.
