Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Shimano Brifter Shim - Where to find

My 105 brifters (9sp) have a reach that is a touch too long. I've seen specs for bikes with some sort of shim to shorten the reach, but I can't seem to find them for sale anywhere?

I can't be the only person out there with small hands.

Any thoughts?

I saw them in Specialized's print catalog, I think they're on the website as well.

Good luck.

I think it's something you put between the shifter's clamp on the bar, and the bar itself, that angles the bottom of the lever closer towards the bar. It's for people whose fingers don't quite reach far enough when in the drops.

I ordered two sets. Though some may scorn small hands, I prefer to think of them as the refined appendages best suited to the nimble requirements of the OCPocracy - espresso cups are quite small.
