Earlier this year, I acquired my new old steed to replace my roughly 15 year old steel bike (frame is ~20years old, 105 group only 15 years).
I was pondering a Trek Madone 5.2, but the wife gave me much schtick about spending so much on a bike, so I found something I knew would still get me out there, but wasn't so costly (and - perhaps because it was my first ride ever with brifters - I felt mildly uncomfortable with the movement of the Ultegra brake lever, whereas this Campagnolo system feels a lot more solid).

    Campagnolo Record 10
    Ksyrium SSC
    Campagnolo Record Titanium pedals
ITM bar and stem and saddlepost

I added a Polar S720 to the mix

Here's mine. I've ditched the rack, changed to a Profile Design H2O stem, changed to a new Serfas saddle, and changed to LOOK pedals. It may be old, but it gets the job done.

    Bikes use brakes to stop.

If your bike has breaks, don't ride it.

Yeah, a guy that I ride with had a few spokes pop out of the blue. Never happened to me though.

I've not had any problems, but don't race or ride super hard. I'm a bit heavy (194 lbs), and the wheels held up well the first season. I'll make a change down the road if I need to, but so far so good.

i would, but some meth-head broke into my garage on friday and stole it. thankfully, my roadie and fixie were in the house... but still. it breaks my heart that my old dual suspension cannondale is now being abused and used to move drugs around town.

Nice bike shifty. Is that bend in the stay supposed to make the ride more supple?

It's clearance for the crank arm, is that a trip? with the indent there is about 3/4 inch clearance.

I can go older. I have a 1984 sport touring frame Cdale with a full Shimano 600 group that I have built up as a commuter, but I don't have any pix right now. I might take some in the next few days and post it up.

I just got this 1989 Cannondale Touring bike on Saturday.

Other than installing my Brooks Saddle (adjusted a little too high right now) and removing the front brake to clean and service it, this is pretty much how I bought it.
