What bike companies own each other?

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

What bike companies own each other?

I know people have mentioned Trek owns so and so, and whatnot here and there. I can't remember any of them though, so who owns who?

Last I heard, Mike Sinyard (company founder) is still majority owner of Specialized. Merida (the Taiwan company that makes most bikes for Specialized) is a minority owner of Specialized.

Pacific Cycles:
Schwinn, GT and Mongoose

There are other lesser brands, but these are the ones that the folks here would likely be interested in.

Easton owns velomax.

FSA owns VisionTech (really VisionTech is just the 'aero division' of FSA).

True, but Gunnar didn't start out as an independent company; it's never been anything other than a product line from Waterford.

Giant and Specialized are both American companies. Lots of manufacturing done in Taiwan, of course, but they're not Taiwanese companies.

SRAM does own Truvativ.

No. Specialized was founded by Americans and their headquarters is in California. I believe that most of the company is still owned by Americans. All of their bicycles are made in Taiwan, though.

In addition to Truvativ, SRAM owns Avid and Rockshox. Also, I think SRAM used to be Sachs.
