Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Scott CR1 Pro

Do you have one. Tell us about it. Also maybe you have the team with the yellow decals. Tell us about it. To both groups of owners, did you consider the other framset when purchasign your team or pro?

Correct me if I am wrong, but when I checked the geometry and weights, isn't the Team and Pro the same frame, except the Pro has silver, and the Team has yellow? And the Pro costs more because it's silver? Am I wrong? If so, correct me. I think that's why I have always liked the look of the yellow. The silver just seems too bland. I'd be more than willing to pay less for something I like the look of more, yet has the same engineering.

Other than that, I have not ridden one, so I wouldn't know how well they perform. However, everything I have read so far, is that it is a fantastic performer.

From what I gather the CR1 Pro is the one with the white decals ( look at pezcyclingnews) and is the cheapest version with a "heavy" 446g fork. The dearer team frame with the yellow decals is also review on there with a 350g fork and prob better carbon layer/weave but I would personally go for the cheaper one cos it won't make any diff to my riding. I tt and climb sufficiently well enough to appreciate things like position on a bike rather than getting the best. Price quality is the name of my game and if there is "bling" or in my world if it "looks great" than fine. It is like the recent purchase of the six13 pro. Didnt go for the team version cos it was a 1000 euros more and would not have made any difference to my performance.
It is like Centaur verus Record. Centaur wins for me hands down. Does everything record does and is about 40% of the price. But heck if you have the money then go out and spend it and show off. Why not!!! I am actually researching the scott cr1 pro for a friend.

I have been looking into the Scott CR1 frameset and bikes for myself and this is what I found out for the bikes that they sell here in the US ( info from a LBS and the 2005 Scott Catalog)
2005 US MODELS
CR1 LTD FRAME SET SILVER OR TEAM ISSUE COLOR 880gm frame
CR1 TEAM ISSUE DURA ACE 14.74 lb 880gm frame
CR1 PRO Ultegra 16.72 lb 980gm frame
CR1 PRO Centaur 17.16 lb 980gm frame
CR1 TEAM 105 17.38 lb 980gm frame

For 2006 the CR1 LTD 880gm frameset is no longer available so if you want just the 880gm frameset you you will have to buy the Team Issue Frameset in yellow which will no longer have the sponser stickers.

I'm sorry, I messed up. You're right, it's not the Pro version. I was thinking of the LTD frame (silver) compared to the Team frame (yellow). I think they weigh the same, but the LTD has the silver decals, and costs more for some reason.

I feel the same way.. my CR1 Team Issue is an awesome bike... I love how stiff it is...Very responsive and I can barrel down hills without hesitation... It is worth the money...
