Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Specialized allez competition?

Yes I have come across a Specialized allez competition that a guy is selling for 1000 dollars? It is a 2004 model, has all ultegra components, It has virtual not been riden (less that 50 miles). The only thing that I am not sure about is that it is a double and not a triple. Everything is in good shape on the bike. I was wondering if this is a good deal. I live in west Texas so I probably wouldn't be riding many hills so is the triple that important for me to have? I thought this sounded good, but I wanted to see if I could maybe get another opinion or two of people who probably know a little bit more than me before I decide to buy it or not. Any responses are greatly appreciated and I thank you in advance.

I have an 03 allez comp cr-mo (columbus foco steel frame) full ultegra with a double and I would love to get $1000 for mine!!! Sounds like a fair price to me. If you'r worried about the double, you can always switch the cassette to a 26 or 27 tooth biggest cog

I absolutely love my 2004 Allez Comp Triple (full Ultegra with Kysrium wheels). I paid $1736.00 for it last December so $1K sounds great.
