i got some mini toeclips the day bfore christmas, and took them for a spin christmas day with all my new bikepresents (headlight, tail light, compy, gloves) and it was like the bike sprouted wings!!!! i was putting out half the effort i used to!! i reached 35.7 m/h since i put the compy on, the lights work great, and i had a wonderfulride!!

clips rule!! i love those things!!

Nuh-uh, clips don't rule.
Maybe over platforms they do.
But you need clipless pedals, they aren't that expensive. I got a set for Christmas from Nashbar for $60.

It's purely subjective. His riding needs might preclude clipless, and so for him the mini-clips rule. While I ride clipless on my roadie, I've got a set of mini-clips coming for my MTB -- my riding needs on that bike make clipless a pain in my whole ass. I wouldn't even think of clipless on that bike.
