Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Louis Garneau

Has anyone noticed that Louis Garneau shorts are really short. They also seem to be very tight in the crouch region. My team recently changed from voler. I got XL bib shorts and tried them yesterday. They seem like girl shorts and ride high on the thigh. I am kind of bummed. Is this a problem for anyone else?

LG clothing is cut really small compard to other North American cycling apperal company. My guess is LG doesn't want fat people in their apperal.

I have a 30" waist and the LG medium fits me fine.
I do have problem with sizing Sugoi though. They make great product but their shorts and tights are inconsistent . . . some of their XL's are too small.

I wear a lot of LG stuff (they are my club team sponsor). LG is what I would call a generous Euro fit... I'd say on the whole that they're right down the middle of the fit range. For example, I wear the following jerseys (I'm 5'10", 160 lb):

Santini: XL (LOL)
LG: med
Pearl Izumi: small (a med is slightly big)

Garneau is no where near a true Euro fit like Santini or Giordana, for example.

I know that's jerseys and we're talking shorts but I've found LG's shorts to fit similarly... I just don't have any non-LG shorts to compare to right now. In a Garneau short I take a Large but I have always worn one size larger on the bottom than the top in any manufacturer's line (I've got a small upper body). LG shorts definitely don't ride high on my thighs compared to other shorts I've owned.

I wear the LG 10 panel bibs and at 6'6" and 230 pounds the XXL's are a great fit. I do a lot of 100 + km rides and I've never had any chaffing.

LG shorts due come in different length. I have 2 pairs with 4" inseam and one with about an 8". Doesn't bother me, but does give a mixed tan line when the 3 pairs are in the rotation.

I have an XL LG jersey and the sleeves cut into my pits. 'Course I'm an extremely muscular American.

When a pair of shorts is labeled "XL(36)" they are cut way smaller then most.
