Black Armbands
Cyclists inthe UK will be wearing Black armbands this Sunday in memory of the 4 members of the Rhyl Cycling Club who were killed whilst out on a clubrun last Sunday.
See : https://www.britishcycling.org.uk/web...chome/home.asp.
https://www.cyclingweekly.co.uk/content/news.html
We will also be observing a minutes silence at 10am (UK time) in their Memory.
The following message has been send to a number of UK news agencies and TV stations -
In light of the terrible catastrophe that occurred last Sunday in North Wales in which four cyclists from Rhyl Cycling Club lost their lives, the word is spreading through the Cycling world that as a mark of respect to the riders and to their families left behind, that all cyclists that take to the roads on Sunday15th January 2006, either in group Clubruns as the Rhyl CC did, or on their own as so many do every weekend, that people could wear a black armband of sorts, it doesn't have to be ornate, indeed black tape would suffice, anything to show that our thoughts are with them.
Cyclists all round the country have been rocked by this accident as we all feel so vulnerable on the roads anyway with increasing traffic volume, we all go out on group rides and the thoughts of most riders with which i have spoken is that "it could so easily have been us."

Wow, thanks for sharing this. If only we had that sort of solidarity here in the US

I'm leading a group ride in Southern California and I'll tell everyone to wear the armbands.
